On February 5, 2025, Fajar Kurniawan, Managing Director of Social Investment Indonesia, was invited by Rumah Zakat to be one of the speakers at the Philanthropy Leaders Forum (PLC) 2025. The event was attended by over 200 leaders from Rumah Zakat’s network. PLC 2025 adopted the theme “Impactful dan Trusted”, emphasizing the importance of transforming social goodwill into sustainable impact through social investment.
Fajar shared insights on the critical role of social investment in driving the growth of the philanthropy sector. He highlighted the need for a strategic approach in program implementation, moving beyond mere charitable activities to creating tangible and measurable impacts. His presentation underscored the importance of involving key stakeholders, designing effective programs, and strengthening local institutions to ensure long-term sustainability.
Additionally, Fajar discussed the significance of social innovation in generating economic, social, environmental, and institutional value. He elaborated on how such innovations can be implemented across various sectors, including NGOs, government, and commercial enterprises. The session also featured concrete examples of social innovation by companies and NGOs in Indonesia, as well as the utilization of technology to enhance the effectiveness of social investment programs.
Fajar recommended that Rumah Zakat consider combining strategies such as program mentoring, cross-sector co-creation initiatives, and the development of social business models to diversify and ensure the sustainability of its philanthropic efforts.
